For the Birds workshop first of events at Salmon Creek Nursery

Customers at Salmon Creek Nursery on Columbus Day weekend got the chance to help out their feathered friends at the first of the Nursery's four October Weekend Events. From 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Salmon Creek staffers helped customers young and old to make homemade bird feeders from bottles, cartons, pine cones and other items found around the home. The creations were then loaded up with the stuff birds like: seeds, suet and peanut butter. And the birds weren't the only ones who got what they liked. Cider and doughnuts were there for the hardworking bird lovers.

Every weekend in October the Nursery will host a free Fall Family Event. On October 13 and 14 they will be making corn husk dolls and wreaths. On October 20 and 21 it will be apple squeezing - cider made the old-fashioned way. And on October 27 and 28 there will be pumpkin carving and painting. Just follow the pumpkin signs to the Nursery at 960 Salmon Creek Road.

Grace Lawlor of Salmon Creek says they are doing it because, "We're a family business and we want to give back something to the families that have supported us over the years." In spite of some 'iffy" weather predictions the nursery had good weather for its first event. "We're looking forward to three more fine fall weekends," said Grace.
