Churchville's Main St. Deli is open
On Monday, July 30, an afternoon fire at 4 South Main Street, Churchville forced the closing of Main Street Deli located next door at 8 South Main Street. The deli was closed for over two weeks and is now reopened. "The majority of our damage was smoke damage and a little water damage from the apartment upstairs," says deli owner Janice Armstrong. The Armstrongs estimate that 95 percent of the deli was lost to the smoke damage. They hired a professional cleaning company that specializes in restoration after a fire. The entire store had to be repainted and re-papered, all items they had in storage also had to be replaced.
Although the fire brought stress and loss, the positive that came from the fire was the love and support shown to the Armstrongs during their difficulty. "We are just overwhelmed with the kindness of our neighbors, friends and the community and we thank them all," Janice said.
The deli is back to full service including coffee and specialty drinks, cold cuts, sandwiches, soups and salads and desserts. The hot and cold catering service is also back to full service. Deli hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can reach them at 293-2150.
