Open Bowling and League Advertising Policies
The statement below was passed on to Westside News by Lori Appleford with
the materials from Spares & Strikes. We plan to continue to use this policy.
POLICY STATEMENT
RE: OPEN BOWLING AND LEAGUE ADS PLACED IN SPARES & STRIKES
AS DISCUSSED AT BPAWNY MEETING
AT BRIERWOOD COUNTRY CLUB

OPEN BOWLING
AND
LEAGUE ADVERTISING
POLICIES
- ADS MENTIONING TIME SLOTS WILL BE ACCEPTED, BUT ADS CONTAINING PRICING OR ANY REFERENCE TO COST (e.g., INEXPENSIVE, DISCOUNT, ETC.) WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR PUBLICATION.
LEAGUE BOWLING:
- ADS FOR LEAGUE OPENINGS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FROM DECEMBER 15 THROUGH FEBRUARY 15 --- HOWEVER, ADS FOR TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL OPENINGS WILL BE ACCEPTED YEAR-ROUND.
- ADS FOR SHORT SEASON LEAGUES AND SUMMER LEAGUE OPENINGS WILL BE ACCEPTED YEAR-ROUND.
- NO LEAGUE ADS OF ANY KIND PLACED IN SPARES & STRIKES DURING THE YEAR MAY CONTAIN COSTS, OR REFERENCE TO COSTS, BUT MAY INDICATE PRIZE FUNDS. HOWEVER, ADS CONTAINING REFERENCE TO MERCHANDISE PRIZES (e.g., PRO-AM ENTRIES, BOWLING BALLS OR ACCESSORIES, CAR RAFFLES, ETC.) ARE ACCEPTABLE.
THESE POLICIES WERE INSTITUTED TO ESTABLISH FAIR ADVERTISING STANDARDS FOR ALL CENTERS SUBSCRIBING TO SPARES & STRIKES, WHILE STILL ALLOWING SPARES & STRIKES TO MAINTAIN AN ADVERTISING REVENUE BASE.
