Kinyon edges past Campbell, 195-191, in title match

Week #10 of the National Bowling Store/Brunswick Senior Shootout at Transit Lanes saw Jim Mee lead the qualifying round with his 751 series. Mee had games of 248, 224 and 279, which was plenty enough to claim the Peerless Workspace Eliminator jackpot.

Ken Ball was the #2 qualifier with his 729 total, aided by a 287 middle game. Hank Baker finished third in the standings with his 690 set, bolstered by his 267 third game.

Low to qualify for the regular cut was Al Espersen with 628, while Butch Benhatzel and Ange Ciminelli earned the final two spots through the Super Senior guarantee with 237-613 and 257-610, respectively.

In the round of 16, Mee was sent back to Jamestown by Benhatzel, 222-212. Also, Mike O'Grady won a thriller over Ciminelli, 258-257.

In the Quarter-Finals, O'Grady was involved in another one pin decision, but this time was on the losing end, 214-213, to Gary Kinyon. Also in this round, Don Voss sent Benhatzel home, 255-212; Glenn Hauptman sent Ball back to Rochester, 229-215; and Mike Campbell eliminated Baker, 236-182.

In the Semi-Finals, Kinyon continued his dominanace of his fellow Lockport bowlers, 239-204, over Voss, while Campbell won a slugfest over Hauptman, 248-235.

The Championship Match was a close one as Kinyon edged Campbell, 195-191.

League members would like to express their sympathy to the Rutkowski family on the recent loss of Gene Rutkowski. The Memorial Service will be held on November 30, 9:30am, at St. Bernard’s Church, 414 Ogden St.

We also extend our sympathy to Al Strianese of South Transit Lanes Pro Shop and his family on the recent loss of his father Albert A. Strianese.
