Local youth stars shine on the lanes
Ryan Chinnici rolls 300; Jeremy Dutcher hits 812

Six months after notching his first career 300 game, Ryan Chinnici repeated the feat at AMF Dewey Garden Lanes.

The left-hander rolled his second career perfecto during the third game of the 8:30am Major Mixed League back on September 22.

"I was struggling then decided to go back to basics…my go-to ball and my go-to line…and just threw the ball without thinking too much," said the 17-year-old.

Chinnici, a senior at Greece Athena High School, used an Ebonite SR300 drilled by Brian O’Mara at Begin’rs to Pro’s.

Chinnici’s first 300 game was extra special as he strung twelve straight strikes at the New York State High School Championships back in March at AMF Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga.

"In the summer of 2006 I had some lessons with Joe Shullek (Pinbusters Pro Shop) and that really helped my game," he said. ‘My dad (Paul) helps me with adjusting to the lane conditions and mom (Lisa) is there to cheer me on."

Next up for Ryan will be topping his career best series by at least eight pins. His high is a 792.

The Saturday 9:00am Senior Mixed League at AMF Empire Lanes was the scene of a rare youth 800 series on October 13. Jeremy Dutcher performed the lead role as he fired games of 244, 279 and 289 for an 812 series.

The 17-year-old right-hander strung 18 strikes between his second and third games. After his first strike in the 10th frame of game three solidified 800, a stingy 7-pin on delivery #11 denied him his first sanctioned 300.

"I thought it might go, but it was just a bit light," Dutcher said.

His only non-strike in game two was a 4th frame single pin.

Dutcher’s 812 set topped his former high of 776 rolled last season and the 289 is his new career high for game.

"I have to thank Brian Dodds and Jack Williams for all of their coaching," he said, "and Joe Shullek (Pinbusters Pro Shop) for drilling my Brunswick Radical Inferno that I used."

Dutcher, who carries a 200 average at Empire, also rolls in the Youth Travel League and will be competing in the Monroe County High School League for Webster Schroeder, where he is a senior.
