Jim Mee tops Matt Zachowicz in title match;
Ken Ball fires 300-816, Mike Campbell 299

In the qualifying round of week #8 in the National Bowling Store/Brunswick Senior Shootout at Transit Lanes, Ken Ball was hitting on all cylinders. Ball blasted games of 257, 300 and 259 for a hefty 816 series to lap the field. His efforts also earned him this week’s Peerless Workspace Eliminator jackpot.

Matt Zachowicz caught fire with a 276-266 finish for 744, second high on the evening. Next in line were Mike O’Grady with 257-729 and Ted Denniston with 249-727. In all, nine 700 sets were tallied.
Low to qualify for the regular cut was 671, submitted by Paul Korn. George Thomas and John Zak claimed the Super Seniors guaranteed spots with their respective 236-646 and 224-635.

In the opening round of match play, high qualifier Ball fell victim to Thomas’ 276 game.

In the Quarter-Finals, Jim Mee sent Dennis Szuder to the showers, 214-204; Thomas moved on with a 242-213 win over Tony Sorrento; Zachowicz kept his hot hand with a 238-225 decision over Glenn Hauptman; and Denniston sent O’Grady back to Lockport, 217-210.

In the Semi-Finals, Mee sent Thomas packing, 223-190, while Zachowicz out-slugged Denniston, 258-238.

In the Championship Match, Mee took control as he defeated Zachowicz, 234-206, for his first title of the season. There has now been eight different champions through our first eight weeks of the season!

Our second 8-week session, the Fall Session, gets underway tonight, October 31! Happy Halloween!
