Tournament certification goes online

Tournament managers wishing to certify their events with the United States Bowling Congress now can do so on the Internet through bowl.com.

The streamlined process asks tournament managers to answer a series of questions about their events and their rules. Once the process is successfully completed, certificates can immediately be printed saving the time previously spent processing forms faxed, e-mailed or regular mailed to USBC Headquarters.

"We are excited to offer this program to tournament managers," said USBC Rules/Bonding/Tournament Certification Team Leader Chris Cooper. "It was our intent all along to create a certification process that was not only easier for the manager, but also much quicker. Our old process took anywhere from three to five business days to certify a tournament. This new online system will allow most managers to complete the process in less than 30 minutes."

Tournament managers can log into bowl.com by setting up or using a current account, input their rules, edit and make any corrections. In the future, they'll be able to take what they put in, copy it for future years and change only what is different from the past, cutting the process down to only a few minutes.

The new service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Fax, e-mail and regular mail options continue to be available.
