Brunette Jr. places 4th at Players Championship

Jerry Brunette Jr. of Rochester earned $500 for his 4th place finish in the 9th annual Players Championship held at Laurel Lanes in Binghamton over the October 13 & 14 weekend.

Bowling on the PBA’s Scorpion pattern, Brunette Jr. was second high on his squad with an 879 total for four games, earning a one round bye.

The left-hander lost in the first match of the stepladder finals to eventual champion, Mike Hamilton, 225-203.

Hamilton then edged Mike Tryniski ($700), 183-175; and finally he ousted top seeded Jim Thomas ($1,500), 202-162, in the title match. Hamilton collected $3,000 for the win.

Ruth Papa of Rochester secured the Women’s guaranteed spot with her 747 total and went on to place 17th for $150.
