Former PBA rivals Roth and Holman to compete
in legends match at USBC Masters Bowlfest
Sports fans will have the opportunity to take a trip into bowling history when bowling greats Marshall Holman and Mark Roth compete in a legends exhibition match during United States Bowling Congress Masters Bowlfest the evening of October 27 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
The bowling festival will feature entertainment, trick shot exhibitions by Dennys PBA Tour players and an opportunity for fans to meet bowling stars, while getting an up-close look at the Masters finals lane installation on the field.
As one of the greatest rivalries in professional bowling history, Roth and Holman were regulars on ABC-TV telecasts of the Pro Bowlers Tour during the 1970s and 80s. Many of those telecasts featured the pair in some of the most intense and colorful matches in tour history.
Roth, with 34 career tour victories and Holman, with 22 titles, bowled head-to-head 10 times on TV with their record deadlock at 5-5. The last time the two met was in the 1984 Touring Players Championship when Roth defeated Holman, 194-177, in the title match to seal Bowler of the Year honors. In all, Roth and Holman appeared on the same finals telecast 18 times.
